I bought this book because I'm very interested in the French & Indian War. Living in Rochester, NY a lot of the forts and historical sites are a quick drive away. The book is laid out well. You get pictures (sometimes paintings or architect sketches) of what the places looked like. Then there is a brief history of the site, event, etc. Why the four stars? First, much of what is in this book is not "new". If you know of these historical locations then you can easily find websites devoted to them. The driving directions and visitor information listed with the chapter is very nice, but again if you wanted to visit Fort William Henry; you can find it on the internet and get the same info. Second, (and only because I'm local) there is a "waterways trail" brochure in the Rochester, NY airport that has a lot of information that is contained in this book.
Still I give it four stars because I like the layout of the book and the information is in one consolidated book. Before I had many of these locations stapled together from printouts of various websites.
