This book is, indeed, an epic adventure. I developed a love for western novels, frontier stories, and stories from the wild, wild, west from my grandfather who was the firstborn son of slaves. He did not read well but loved the written word. I was his firstborn grandchild and his son (my dad) was a school teacher who taught me to read when I was 4 years old and my grandfather and I bonded over books that he wanted me to “read to Gramp”. Frontier stories, Indian adventures, and westerns were his genre and I loved reading them to him. This one is a beauty! Have already started reading the second book in the trilogy and it is starting out as good as the first!

Good read if you are into early American frontier adventure. Lots of action and suspense. Includes drama, love and action.
This novel by JRW has been reviewed with the three books set. Each novel stands alone. However, reading through three together is better than individual novel alone.....ER
What a great series...got one book during a snow storm just to pass time between shoveling and couldn't put it down. Ended up reading all three books and using the skid loader to move the snow..haha...great read
Great read and a book that you don't want to put down. Characters are interesting and well written.
It took me a couple of chapters to get into the story. Each day I would read 3 or 4 chapters. Soon I was looking forward to to getting back to the Legend of the Dawn. I enjoy reading about the dreams, struggles sucesses and failures of the brave souls that discovered and formed our great nation. I found my self feeling for the characters struggling to surive in a harsh world.
If you enjoy stories of the early days of our country I recomend this book Legend of the Dawn. I am looking forward to J R WRIGHT'S After the Dawn
Wonderful tale of probably just how hard life really was back then. Quite the tale of adventure and suspense. A good read.
Admittedly, this isn't my genre. I'm a romance reader at heart, so 99% of the books I read are by women. I like a book that tells all the frills of the relationship and really builds up a love. This isn't that. This is different. BUT still good. My only real complaint about this book is the amount of death. I don't know if that is a common thing in this genre, but for me it was shocking. Not gory really, just a shocking number of deaths (and they weren't all bad guys).

This book follows the story of two teenage orphans (Luke & Breanne) that fall in love and the interesting old fellow that escorts them on their journey to start a new life together. This isn't a romance in the traditional sense, its more of a frontier adventure with a romance element. Lots of ironic twists and turns makes for an interesting, albeit farfetched storyline. There are no "love" scenes. The first time it says explicitly that they are sleeping together

"When finished, he invited Breanne into the cozy space where they near immediately made love. It was only fitting they did so now in celebration of this most joyous occasion!"

I literally laughed out loud, because the last book I read was one of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and the love scenes in those are a STARK contrast. The love scenes later on are a bit more "advanced" than that one, but not much, so a pretty safe read in that aspect.

All of that being said, I really enjoyed the story. The twists and turns were exciting, the love story was believable, and I really cared about what happened to the main characters at the end. I immediately purchased the next one in the trilogy and fully expect to buy the last one as well.
