I'm writing this review to encourage readers who haven't tried a Lisa Gardner book yet to do so. A friend loaned me a book by her last year and with no preconceptions, I read it and was blown away by it. So I tried a second book by her. I just finished TOUCH AND GO and it certainly did not disappoint! Two knock-outs in a row means I now have a new author I can't wait to read! There's nothing better than discovering that, right? If you are like me and hesitate to try authors you haven't yet read, I understand. More often than not, they aren't worth my time. However, this book and this author really are worthy of your time. I like John Verdon, Lynwood Barclay, John Grisham, Dennis Lahane, Harlen Cobin, Jeffery Deaver, Tess Gerritson, etc and Lisa Gardner fits right in there with them, she is THAT good! So if you like any of the authors I've mentioned, I'm positive you will like Lisa Gardner. Do yourself a favor and give her a try. I bet you'll be glad you did.

The Granite State, that strong image of New Hampshire, is the image that resonates throughout this novel. Though the crime is initiated in Massachusetts, much of the action takes place in New Hampshire. Libby Denbe, a woman who has everything, a wealthy husband, a beautiful loving teenaged daughter, lives in the Back Bay of Boston. This is an exclusive area of the city known for it's magnificent homes and buildings. It is here in this home that the crime takes place. Ashlyn, their daughter, home alone, while Libby and her husband go out to dinner , the first step in repairing their marriage.

Tessa Leoni, a former Mass.State Trooper, is now working as a detective for a security firm. She had a disastrous end to her marriage, and now she is trying to make money to support her daughter. She is called early on a Saturday morning to assess the activities that have taken place at the Denbe home. When she arrives she finds DDWarren, the detective in charge of major crimes and her colleagues. It seems the family is missing and through extraordinary means they discover the family is in northern New Hampshire. The local Authorities are notified, and we meet Sherrif Wyatt. Both of these new characters, Tessa Leoni and Sherrif Wyatt, are characters we will meet again, strong and attractive, each in their own way.

This story has more twists and turns than a roller coaster. It is filled with some violence, but most of it has to do with relationships. Relationships that failed and are remembered. The Denbe Construction Firm plays a huge part in this novel, as do the people who work there. What we have is not always what we see, and in this novel that is true in spades.

As always, Lisa Gardner writes an extraordinary novel. This may be one of her best. I had a hint to the outcome, but didn't come close. That, to me, is the clue to a book that is one of the best.

Nothing says great storyline like a good old-fashioned kidnapping! Libby Denbe, devoted wife and mother of eighteen years, believed she had it all--or did she? Material things to the outside world makes a person appear as though they have it together, but do they really?

Being married to the alpha male, Justin Denbe, who inherited his father's construction business, Denbe Construction, at the tender ager of 27-years old, made his father's business grow twice the amount after his father's untimely death. But there are some things that money certainly can't buy, which the Denbe family soon found out after three very powerful men, stormed upon their home taking the entire family from all that they knew.

Libby starts off telling the reader what her pain tastes like. Her flavor of choice, oranges. The ordeal she and her family journey through is one hell of a roller coaster ride, with all the twists and turns one suspecting reader can handle. This was an outstanding book, and needless to say, will most definitely keep you turning the pages.

What you think is happening, may not be what you expect. One thing the Denbes soon learn is that the family life they share, with all its money and power, and love, isn't exactly what their family was truly about. Excellent read, and you'll enjoy the suspense!
