I liked the story but, honestly, the merry-go-round with Tweet was a bit much. It was unfortunate that I ended up disliking her towards the end of the book. The character seemed to have very good common sense in everything but her assessment of her own relationship with Noah.I went back and forth with 2 stars (due to Tweet’s frustrating behavior) and 5 stars…I will settle for 3. This story could have been much more— the happy ending did nothing to remove the dislike I already had for Tweet. Too bad.

Present Perfect Perfect series Book 1 edition by Alison G Bailey Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Noah and Amanda were born on the same day and have been best friends since childhood. As they enter high school, both of them start to view each other in a romantic light. Noah thinks Amanda, nicknamed "Tweet", is beautiful, smart, and funny. Even though they both have feelings for each other, Amanda refuses to cross the "friend" line, thinking she'll eventually lose Noah if they get involved. She feels she's not pretty enough or perfect enough for her Noah, and thinks he deserves better.
This lopsided logic continues throughout 80% of the book, which made me want to strangle Amanda for her stupidity and insecurities. Noah makes it clear so many times that he'd rather be with Amanda, but she continues to push him away into other women's willing arms and beds. Meanwhile, Amanda's first boyfriend turns out to be a complete jerk, who only uses her to have sex and win a bet.
When Noah's father dies unexpectedly, Noah turns to Amanda for support and comfort. Noah's girlfriend, Brooke, confronts Amanda and strongly suggests that she leave Noah alone so she can comfort him instead. Instead of supporting her best friend in his time of need, Amanda foolishly listens to Brooke and ends their friendship when Noah needs her the most.
After this, my opinion of Amanda continued to decline as she returned to Brad, the boyfriend that humiliated and used her, just to have meaningless sex in an attempt to forget Noah. As Amanda goes off to college, she picks one loser after another. Her new boyfriend, Matt, belittles her and disrespects her, but she thinks this is the type of person she deserves.
After five months of separation, Noah re-enters the picture and Amanda and Noah resume their "best friend" status. Shortly thereafter, Amanda learns she has a life-threatening illness. Noah offers his support throughout Amanda's ordeal. We're now about 85% through the book and Amanda still refuses to tell Noah that she loves him. She's still convinced that he deserves happiness with someone else, and she doesn't want to be a burden with her medical problems.
At this point, I'm wondering if Amanda will ever reach that Aha! moment on her own and come to her senses. Her new friend, Dalton, is the one that finally gives Amanda some helpful advice.
In conclusion, this is a long, drawn out story of two people in love, who waste not just months, but years of their lives with other people before finally connecting. As much as I liked Noah, I couldn't bring myself to like Amanda at the end. To me, she wasn't a good role model for women and I didn't really see any character growth from start to finish.

I bought this book because of good reviews and because the blurb interested me. But I ended up disappointed.
This book was too long and the story felt uneven. The first 75%ish of the book just has the two main characters going back and forth about their feelings for one another. Nothing really happens. I got incredibly burnt out on Amanda's constant dialog of, "I'm not good enough. I don't deserve you." I actually reached a point where I agreed with her and didn't want her to get the guy.
The last 25%ish of the book is where the story really is. This is where life changing events take place, and Amanda and Noah are forced to examine their feelings for each other and their willingness to take a risk on a relationship.
I wish the author had really delved into the last bit of the book and made that the story. I think the end product would have been much better if the focus had been on those events as opposed to the back and forth feelings that Amanda had. As it was, the book drug on and on for me.
I have no intention of reading this one again, and I wouldn't recommend it. I think there are other books that do the same type of story line much better than this one did.
The buzz about this book on a few of the blogs was pretty good, so I one-clicked it. Now, however, I wish that I hadn't. The story didn't leave me feeling good. When I finished it earlier today, I was so sad and emotionally drained, that I couldn't even write my review (the story line there at the end was just too much). I found Amanda's character extremely frustrating. Don't get my wrong, I get that she felt inadequate when being compared to her sister. I just don't understand why she felt undeserving of Noah's love when he told her and showed her OVER and OVER and OVER again for YEARS, just how much he loved her!!! Amanda's sister even told her that she should be with Noah! For heaven's sake, why was Amanda so insecure and obsessed with being perfect? This girl was in serious need of some therapy! Amanda's tortuous journey of self loathing, her path of self destruction and her ultimate self realization was too long and drawn out for my taste. The grueling tug-of-war she played with Noah's heart just got OLD! What did I like about the book? I liked Noah's character. He was easy to fall in love with, with his constant presence, big romantic gestures, and genuine desire to take care of "Tweet". I especially liked the story behind Noah's pet name for "Tweet". I also liked Dalton. Although we didn't get to spend much time with this character, he served an important purpose; his presence played a pivotal role. The 2.5 Stars are for Noah. This book is in dire need of editing!
I liked the story but, honestly, the merry-go-round with Tweet was a bit much. It was unfortunate that I ended up disliking her towards the end of the book. The character seemed to have very good common sense in everything but her assessment of her own relationship with Noah.
I went back and forth with 2 stars (due to Tweet’s frustrating behavior) and 5 stars…I will settle for 3. This story could have been much more— the happy ending did nothing to remove the dislike I already had for Tweet. Too bad.
